June rainsSubmitted by Chris Ritcey on Sat, 06/04/2011 - 09:14
Well, unlike my last post about few problems caused by May rains, June rains are not good. The weekend of rain and wind ahead, and more cool weather, raises the possibility of decreased yields in the vineyard. The good news is that we are not yet in bloom, so perhaps the damage will be minimal. Sunshine expected starting next week. Are May rains a problem in the vineyard. We just finished a pretty significant 2-3 day rainstorm here in Petaluma. You might wonder what effect this late rain has on the farm. In a dry year, any replensihing of the groundwater, where our farm's water comes from, is welcome. But this year, as the past few, have given us normal rainfall. So groundwater is my part of Sonoma County is not an issue. Cotati Corner Wine BarSubmitted by Chris Ritcey on Thu, 04/14/2011 - 08:00
Corona Creek 2008 Pinot Noir can now be found at the Cotati Corner Wine Bar (http://www.cotaticorner.com/ ). They are also selling the olive oil in 250ml bottles. Both may be included in their upcoming wine club and gift basket offerings, in addition to being sold at the shop. Petaluma's newest hip restaurant, Luma, is featuring CCV 2008 pinot by the glass on their wine list. La Dolce Vita Wine Bar, located in the theatre district, also started pouring the 08 pinot this past week. Enjoy! Last night Corona Creek Vineyards 2008 Pinot Noir was awarded a silver metal at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. More important, virtually all the patrons had many positive things to say about the wine. We will be pouring at the fair next Saturday and Sunday. For more about the harvest fair, click here. |
